Sea Shanties Have An Interesting Multicultural History

Santa Cruz locals fondly remember Aaron leading our monthly “shanty sings” at the Davenport Roadhouse and Pour Taproom. CHARMAS has also performed sea-themed concerts throughout the San Francisco Bay Area, including at San Francisco’s annual Sea Music Festival.

CHARMAS original Drinking in Sunshine portrays a tipsy sailor going overboard and ditching his boat in the Santa Cruz Yacht Harbor.

Jumping Jack O’Neill’s, composed by two CHARMAS surfers, was composed in memory of local wetsuit pioneer Jack O’Neill.
